Feb, March Amazing
My absolute favorite time of year to fish... 70-80 degrees daily
Wahoo, Tuna, Snapper, Cobia, and many more.
December is the beginning
December in Paradise marks the beginning of the the winter migrations. Wahoo, returning mahi, returning tarpon, permit always around. The reef is starting to fire off and fish great.
mahi mahi
Mahi Mahi are migrating in mass past the Florida Keys and it is awesome. The grass lines offshore in state and federal waters of the Atlantic are loaded with mahi.
permit/tarpon
As with every Tarpon season it was awesome... May 2018 was fantastic for the technology angler. Mother nature decided to give South Florida clouds and we took advantage of it. Its nice when god turns on the a/c.
March is rock pile month!
When the Jet Stream shifts to Florida in March the fishing gets exciting. Major fish migrations are commencing and spring break is happening. Snappers are moving all over the place feeding up for the early summer spawn.
2018 is here and the fishing is GREAT!
Post Hurricane IRMA!!! Yes is was a mess and yes we are rebuilding! HOWEVER the the fishing is fantastic. For the most part if you fly into Key West you will see no signs of having a near miss of a Major hurricane...
Spring Fishing has been fantastic
Spring fishing has been fantastic. In the keys we really don't have seasons we have fish migrations. The winter and spring fishing produced many smiles and catches of permit, cobia, snapper, grouper, tarpon, sharks, crevalle jacks, all sorts of mackrel, Golaith grouper, tuna, and a few others.
Tarpon are here!
The time is here. Tarpon are here year round but the best numbers are inbetween cold fronts... just so happens we have 9 months with no cold fronts. The prime migration is beginning with the shift of the planet south and the water temps nearing the magic 79 degrees that triggers a massive biomass to move towards the spawning grounds.

Happy New Year! 2017 is here!!!
Fishing fans: winter is here! Personally some of my favorite fishing is now till April. Abundance of bait and cooler waters makes for some hot action. Most of our winter species are here or on the way. Of note the tuna and wahoo bite has been great.
Permit time/Slam time!!
Summer is the time- Permit Time!
Flats and structure both have them and they are very fun to play with once located.
Plenty of bonefish around too!
Tarpon! Tarpon Tarpon and more tarpon!
Just a few days after the southern winds pushed back against a cold front and won the tarpon started flooding in along the channels and in the backcountry.
Permit Tourney and Tarpon Migration
This week marks the start of the MARCH MERKIN a permit on fly tournament started by the late great permit master Jon Ain! Bear is guiding in it as he has every year since the its inception! Wishing him and his angler the best of luck and my the sun come out!

Feb in Key West
Feburary is a fantastic month to see what the Florida Keys and Key West has to offer. Daily live music, cool tropical temp's (except on cold front day then little chilly).
Key West Winter Fishing!
Fishing in the Florida Keys is fantastic in the travel/tourist months!
The weather was a little iffy for a few weeks with the dip in the jet stream but we are back to normal and the fish are biting!
Filming w Sport Fishing TV
Key West Angling has the pleasure of wrapping up the final 2 episodes of Sport Fishing TV 2016. Graham Morton a long time friend, producer and fishing mate is bringing down the SFTV Crew today.
Permit and Tuna in one day!
Bear on a charter last week pulled off a series of cool days on a multiple boat charter with some great people! Permit, snapper, bonita and blackfin tuna were the outcome in one day. Gotta love it when it all comes together to make magic!
January El Nìnō action!
January is here and so is the best fishing the Florida Keys has to offer! Key West is well known for its tarpon, bonefish and permit fishing in the spring and summer months. I want to make sure everyone is aware that the best time to fish is the winter and spring.
