Happy New Year! 2017 is here!!!
Fishing fans: winter is here! Personally some of my favorite fishing is now till April. Abundance of bait and cooler waters makes for some hot action. Most of our winter species are here or on the way. Of note the tuna and wahoo bite has been great. The patch reefs in Hawks Channel are fishing good with numbers of reef fish. Backcountry is beginning to load up with sea trout, jacks, yellow jacks, bait fish and sharks. I Have not ventured into the Gulf as of late due to the North wind..... little sporty. Cobia are soon to show. False Albacore (local slang bonita) are soon to invade in mass.. As a year round species of ours the cooler waters make for some epic schooling/blitzing action.
On good weather windows the flats have potential for tarpon, bones, permit and cudas. If we get lucky this year the cobia might get on rays on the flats... total blast throwing lures at them and when they are in the normal pattern we know where they lurk.
For those of you thinking about booking for tarpon this spring and summer lets make that happen. We have 3 boats full time and a couple more in our network we book so more than likely we can get you on the water. If we are full we will connect you with one of our friends we fish with and make sure you get on the water.
Stay warm and well,
